Cain and Abel

The Cain and Abel visual aid concept on BibleClassWorkshop.com is a wonderful visual aid! https://store.bibleclassworkshop.com/products/597-cain-and-abel/ I wanted to make a larger version of that concept for our teaching wall.  The result was two life-sized figures that represent each brother. As the story is told from Genesis 4, an arm is added and then a head followed by each body part as the events unfold: arms, legs, torso, and head.

As the lesson is told, the children are NOT told that these will form bodies of each son. They are just visual aids on the wall to begin with. At one point as I placed each visual on the wall, one child cried out, “Hey! Those are people!” The whole class erupted with excitement at such a realization. We spent a brief moment enjoying that revelation and then proceeded with the rest of the story.

Pictures attached to the bodies come from FreeBibleImages.org. The happy and sad face emojis may be found online. The black and white hearts are something I cut out freehand.

The white heart represents Abel’s clean and pure heart. In the image showing Cain raising a large rock to strike Abel, I placed a “dead face” emoji on top of it once Abel died. It provided some comic relief for the kids in such a dark lesson.

Using the visual aid from BibleClassWorkshop.com, I also made invidiual learning centers. The children use them before class starts as a quick review. Look here for the learning center: https://kidsbibleclassideas.com/cain-and-abel/?preview_id=2203&preview_nonce=9f5348c0ed&_thumbnail_id=-1&preview=true

The black heart represents the state of Cain’s heart which was black with sin. The frowny face represents God’s displeasure with Cain’s offering.

The white heart represents Abel’s clean and pure heart. In the image showing Cain raising a large rock to strike Abel, I placed a “dead face” emoji on top of it once Abel died. It provided some comic relief for the kids in such a dark lesson.
